Kennedy Center For The Performing Arts
In 1993, Don James received the Meritous Achievement Award from The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts for Original Music from the play "Until Daylight". "Until Daylight" is an original work for the stage that deals with the issue of survivor guilt. The central character, Chad McGraw, now back home after a tour of duty in Vietnam, has to come to terms with the demons that he has brought back with him. Don's gripping electronic score is the musical vehicle that transports the audience into Chad's personal nightmare.
RIAA Certified Gold Record
Adina Howard's 1995 release, "Do You Wanna Ride" went gold late in '95. RIAA certified plaques were awarded to Don James for his engineering credits.
3M Visionary Award
In the fall of 1995, the 3M Company awarded the prestigious "Visionary Award" to Don James for his contribution on East/West Records' 1995 release, "Do You Wanna Ride" by Adina Howard . This award is presented to producers, engineers and studio facilities for their work on RIAA certified releases that use 3M products. All of the tracks were recorded using Digidesign's ProTools hard disk recording system. Then, the recorded tracks were transferred onto 3M 996 24 track tape for the mix session in Los Angeles.
